The counter part to the book. This 44minute documentary includes interviews with the people surrounding the trip. This was a great commercial success, dubbed into 17 languages and screened around the world. The interviews and direction by Paul Currie. Edited by Gary Woodyard. Produced by Phil Gregory.

I’m really proud of this one. It took six years after the devastating end to finally make. The perspective is good and it’s surprisingly funny. At the Melbourne International Film Festival premiere the audience were continually laughing at the absurdities which occur. I’m even more proud of this than my Lionheart book.

KIJANA THE REAL STORY (BOOK)

LIONHEART BOOK

This is the account of my solo world sail, written in 2000 with Ed Gannon. It begins with my up bringing and the adventures I had before Lionheart. It’s much more lively than my internal dialogue you read here. I’m proud of it’s innocent account of the important things to me as I was growing up. I hear a lot of school teachers recommend it to students who prefer not to read. It is on the New South Wales schools reading list and study notes prepared by Allen & Unwin can be downloaded here.

This is the account of my second big trip with friends. It is more self conscious than Lionheart and does not completely capture what I was trying to do. The documentary 5 Lost at Sea is a better account. Nonetheless a lot of work was put into it and it’s full of detail which the documentary misses. It’s a story about a trip falling apart.
