Every adventure costs something and yet a part of getting away is to ‘spend nothing’. I couldn’t have been on some of my trips without the generous support of some companies and individuals, especially early on. I have found that also the time spent finding sponsors sometimes out-weighs the assistance you get. Don’t think that a sponsored adventure is any more important than a non sponsored adventure. You will still return with some new discovered treasure. A sponsored trip only makes some people question the value of the treasure you return with.

So if it is a purely self contained and minimal trip, I’d suggest working your usual job, of which you are best at, to save the funds to go. If it is an epic then set aside a lot of time and effort and be prepared to be tied to home. I think it must be obvious I prefer a simple adventure but maybe you can find something in between. Go with what you think.
