My family and friends are the most important things in my life. Not that original but fairly profound. But I have to keep leaving to remind myself of this fact, and also to meet up with an old friend of mine called A Sense of Wonder. I do believe I am better to those closest to me when I’ve spent time with A Sense of Wonder and I hope they too get to meet my old friend in their own kind of way.

Here’s some of the stages to my journey:

After the failure of the Kijana journey I swung to an extreme. The pressure and dissapointment I felt I’d been to people caused me to head back to the beauty I’d discovered in Papua New Guinea.

Five friends led by Jesse Martin set off on an epic world voyage aboard the timber ketch Kijana (Swahili for ‘Young People’) in search of paradise and exotic cultures.

To sail around the world you first need a yacht and my situation required sponsorship. But sponsorship requires media attention and so a record must be broken...

A fictional account. I have been to this place in my mind. I call it preparation.

Unfulfilled by school and Street Fighter and inspired by Larry Gray’s Pattarak design, I devised a plan to sea kayak with my brother Beau 260km along the coast of New Ireland, Papua New Guinea...

I always loved camping and video games and skateboards but when I was 14 my dad introduced my brother and I to sailing. He had moved to Melbourne to spend more time with us...
